Welcome to the FISH of McHenry Food Pantry's web site!

Statement of Organization's Purpose
FISH is an International Interdenominational Service Organization founded during World War II by clergy during the war in England.

FISH of McHenry was chartered and organized in 1973. It is an all volunteer service organization that strives to meet the supplemental emergency needs of the disadvantaged in our community. Often it "fills the gap" while people are waiting for public aid, food stamps, disability or unemployment compensation to begin. It operates solely on donations of money and goods.

In need of help?  FISH Food Pantry is open Tuesday and Thursday each week, from 9:00 to 11:30 am.   No Appointment Necessary.

We are located at McHenry Township Hall, 3703 N. Richmond Road, on the lower level at the rear of the building. Parking for  participants is in the Township’s employee parking lot on the south side of the building.

Residents of the City of McHenry and Johnsburg School District are qualified to come in and fill out an application. The following paperwork is needed to apply:
     1. Picture IDs for anyone years age 18 and over
     2. Proof of residency such as rental agreement/lease, mortgage coupon or a current utility bill

FISH Food Pantry has been operating for the past 30 years out of various locations throughout McHenry. Currently we are serving over 400 families a month out of the 1200 of basement of the township building and storing food in an off-site storage facility just a few miles away. Since the transition of leadership this past summer, we have been working on a new approach so that no child or adult in our community has to go hungry.

Our recent partnership with the Northern Illinois Food Bank has allowed us to participate in the (EFP) Emergency Food Program (offering free commodities of fresh & frozen foods) in addition to also purchasing food at a price of $.14 /lb. It has been a wonderful opportunity for us to give a little more to our clients during these tough times.
